ABOUT THE EVENT


The Festival of Big Ideas, held by the Alberta Council of Technologies Society, is a public exposition and BBQ of the METRO Edmonton Region’s innovations and innovators, the business of technologies changing our future.


A SHOWCASE – ENGAGING, INFORMATIVE


The Festival is to feature a Creative Arts Market, Food Truck BBQs and a Beer Garden, live webcasting!! and an Exposition comprised of 6 Innovation Zones each with 12 exhibits.  Priced to accommodate the Region’s up and coming entrepreneurs. Plus dozens of big ideas and VERY BIG IDEAS for fixing the economy and advancing it’s diversification.


BIG IDEAS – ENTERTAINING


A central feature of the Festival is ENTERTAINMENT under the dome – the Central pavilion, including:


Big Ideas. Several of the most popular presentations of big and VERY big ideas selected from our Red Deer and Drayton Valley Convention and Conferences. Presentations of Big Ideas for fixing the economy will be every half hour from Noon through 5:30pm, followed by 4 VERY big ideas: 1. Engaging Youth, 2. An AB ICT Strategy, 3. Going Global, and an ABCTech Credit Union & Investment Fund.


Innovation. A VERY impressive voice – to be identified, with an important message re innovation: emerging technologies, engaging youth and the creative arts, will follow at 7:00.


The Future. The Festival winds down with a Celebration of the Future and light mapping – the creation of a youth troupe of Edmonton high school students – an awesome surprise.

The Festival of Big Ideas is being held on a field adjacent to the Advanced Technology Centre in the Edmonton Research Park: 5026 20 Ave – Edmonton Research Park. Edmonton, AB. The public Sustainival event is just across the street June 8-11th.
